Pride in Place – Arts & Play Workshops

As part of Pride in Place, Peterborough Together Project delivered our Arts & Play Workshops at Orton Wistow Community Centre - welcoming, inclusive sessions where children, parents and carers could create, play and connect together.

The workshops were designed to give families the freedom to explore creativity in their own way, try different materials, spend quality time together and feel part of their community.

The feedback was fantastic: 100% of respondents said they would attend another Arts & Play Workshop, 100% felt welcomed and included, 100% felt the activities were suitable for all ability levels, 95% rated the workshop experience positively, and 90% said the workshops helped their creativity or confidence.

Participants particularly valued creative freedom, social connection, family time and the welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Activities included pebble art, drawing, tissue-paper art collages and glass painting, and childhood games such as hopscotch.

We also asked people what we could do better. Suggestions included different table and chair layouts, background music, refreshments and an even wider variety of activities. We’ll use this feedback to help shape future workshops.

The Arts & Play Workshops were funded through the Pride in Place scheme, supported by Peterborough City Council and the UK Government.
