Peterborough Art Society was founded in 1929 and remains a long-standing local community for artists and art enthusiasts. Our annual exhibitions feature over 150 artworks and celebrate the creativity of local talent. We regularly showcase members’ work in community venues and online, providing opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their creations. Each year we organise 2 major exhibitions at St John’s Church, where visitors can also vote for their favourite pieces.
Our aim is to encourage, support, and showcase local art while helping members develop their artistic potential within a welcoming and sociable environment. We welcome both amateur and professional artists and offer a varied programme designed to broaden knowledge and inspire exploration of new techniques and media.
While creating art is often a solitary activity, the Society provides opportunities for artists to connect, learn, and create together. Our programme includes demonstrations by established artists, practical workshops, and shared painting sessions. We also collaborate with like-minded cultural groups in the local area to expand learning opportunities and strengthen community links.
Alongside the artistic benefits, members value the strong social aspect of our meetings and events. Our work is regularly exhibited to the public, and we hope these displays bring enjoyment to visitors while encouraging others to develop their own creative interests.
