We host nights for people with disabilities either hidden or visible.
One of our nights is known as The Club which happens on the last Friday of the month. Here we offer not only a safe space for individuals with multiple disabilities to hang out but to also make friends, play board games, try their luck at the tombola , have a boogie in the dance room with our amazing DJs, crafting in our craft area, play pool and air hockey. If they are peckish or thirsty we also offer snacks and drinks.
We also run The Steve ball disco nights, these happen once every few months, we host the same as The Club but instead of a tombola we hold a giant raffle with a much bigger dance floor but the same DJs.
We recently started hosting a silent disco which includes headphones for all to listen to the music teaming up with Dance Ability to bring 2 Djs in to the mix. While also enjoying the other stuff we have on offer.
This year we are hosting some extra nights like a Karaoke night and a Bingo Boogie to be able to off something for everyone. We hold our events at different venues however most of our events are held at The City College Peterborough.
Why do we have these nights?
We're passionate, big hearted people who love to not only help and support others but also bring smiles to those who join us for one of our nights. Our biggest goal is offering a safe space away from home for people over the age of 18 with a disability no matter what disability they have. We offer these nights also to allow them to be as independent as they can while still supported.
So many new faces as well as old have tried our nights and the feedback is out of this world positive.
Without the amazing team of people I don't know where we would be right now.
Some of us are from different places that support people with disabilities we have volunteers that are from safe soulmates, some of us came from club 73 and one was an access champion. Some of our volunteers are Neurodivergent. We are all different groups with the same mission in mind to help and support people with disabilities.
I love how each volunteer comes from a different background because it means we all have our individual knowledge and experience.
We hope to continue providing these nights for many, many, many more years to come.
We have included a photo of the volunteers including the bar staff and the DJs, along with some pictures of our events
